October 2015

Hello,

Occasionally no news is good news. And if you haven’t heard from us for a while it’s because (sound of cheering and “goal!”…) it’s been our busiest year ever, with a huge amount of film and photography projects to keep us out of trouble.  At Citizen Films we always like to adopt an attitude of gratitude, and every single commission has been amazing to work on.  Here are a few we’d like to share right now.

Manchester United

All our shoots are tightly scheduled, but sometimes a project will require absolute precision on the day.  When we were given just one hour to film with Man U’s top talent – Wayne RooneyDavid de GeaAnder HerreraMarcos RojoDaley BlindJuan Mata and Radamel Falcao – we mustered every last bit of know how from long, long years spent working under pressure at the coalface of live TV.  Our Dawn brushed up on her conversational Spanish and we set up two filming studios at Old Trafford with five cameras, two Directors and lots of smoke, all ready to meet some of the world’s best footballers.  The results – thirteen short films for an innnovative event for Epson, produced by Events Guru Elsa Ford.

Velocity & Sprint

The lovely people at Velocity are widely regarded as the go-to experts in B2B content marketing for tech companies.  And with our own finely honed technological skills (…ahem), when they asked us to help bring their ideas for films to life, we were all too happy to assist.  This year we’ve produced a number of their videos for Sprint Business, a major telecoms player in the States, ranging from short films for exhibitions and websites to TV commercials.  View them at Sprint Business.

Come Dine With Us

On Friday 13th November Childhope, the charity that challenges injustice for children, is holding an event on a grand scale at Shakespeare’s Globe.  The night will be hosted by BAFTA award winning actress Juliet Stevenson, and also attending will be Patrons Trevor Eve & Sharon Maughan.  In the intimate setting of a room overlooking the Thames, guests will arrive to a champagne and canapé reception, followed by a three-course dinner with wine, entertainment and a live auction. There are a few tickets left at £80 each – please get in touch with us asap if you’d like to join the Citizen Films table, or even book one of your own.

And Finally… We’ve Moved Home

We happened upon Ladbroke Hall, a Grade II listed building in London W10, quite by chance while scouting for a location for one of our shoots.  And with an office just right for our needs, we thought it rude not to say OK, OK, yes alright, we’ll move in!  With thoughts of ‘can this get any better?’, the icing on the cake is that we now have a dedicated in-house editing suite.  And if our building’s architectural glory isn’t enough, just a short hop and a skip down the parquet stairs finds us at Sunbeam Studios, home to four beautiful spaces for filming, all connected via a marble–terrazzo mezzanine.   If you enjoy good flooring, coffee AND cake, come and check us out.
